Creating Through Loss and Uncertainty: Art, Healing, and Transformation

In addition to the recent wildfires that have impacted all of us on a direct or indirect level, we are continually confronted with challenging situations in our lives: whether caring for elderly parents, navigating the stress of work and family life, the loss of family or pets, or experiencing feelings of frustration and fear with the current political climate. I invite artists to talk about how art helps them cope with these challenges.

PLEASE – This salon is NOT a forum to discuss current politics. It is about how art impacts our daily lives and helps us manage the challenges we encounter. Any
digression into political discussion will be strongly discouraged.

I invite you to reflect on the following prompts to guide our conversation about how
creating (or viewing) art impacts our lives during challenging times.
 Art allows us to expressing complex emotions that may be difficult to articulate with words.
 Art can be cathartic, helping to release pent-up emotions and alleviate stress
 Creating art allows us to be in the present moment and promotes mindfulness and grounding.
 Art-making encourages reflection and self-exploration, allowing us to process the grief, make sense of the loss, and find symbolic representations for the experiences.
 Creating art can serve as a tribute: preserving memories and maintaining a sense of connection.
 Through creative expression, we can build resilience, discover new coping strategies, and experience personal growth as we navigate our personal journeys.

Please bring art works (concepts, unfinished or finished) to share.
