Artist Statement:
Rollence Patugan is an American photographer based in Pasadena, CA. His work explores themes of identity, diversity, and visibility. Originally from Baldwin Park, a small but diverse town in the San Gabriel Valley, Rollence aims to use his art to amplify underrepresented voices.

Growing up in the 1980s as an Asian American of Chinese and Filipino descent, he rarely saw himself—or his Latino friends—reflected in government, sports, entertainment, or the arts. This absence made him feel invisible in American society.

Through his photography, Rollence strives to capture and celebrate the ethnic diversity that has shaped his life, using his voice and art to ensure others are seen.
