Biographical Information:
I am an artist and art educator. I hold degrees in art, art history, art education and arts education. I taught art for over thirty years to students from pre-school to adults.
As an artist, I exhibit my work both in western New York and California. I am active in numerous art organizations. My work can be found in private collections internationally and in the United States.
Artist Statement:
My style of art has evolved from my interest in merging contemporary and traditional art. As a student in Italy, I had pleasure of viewing the works of great artists. This experience has shaped my perception and instilled a love of representational art and technical excellence.
In my practice I work with charcoal, pen and ink and oils. Charcoal, allows me to produce images with realistic detail and dramatic light, through the use of value. Pen and ink allows me to explore the intricate detail of surface textures found in nature. Oil paint expands on both experiences by rendering compositions with richness and depth of color. While drawing is the foundation of my work, detail is always an important element. My subject matter varies but there is a strong emphasis on still life and botanicals in my collection.
The goal is to create beautiful images that engage the viewer on multiple levels. My hope is that you, as the viewer, will enjoy my work and that on some level it will resonate with you.
