Norma Chuan ( -1973)

As a native Californian she received most of her formal education locally. A graduate of Chouinard Art Institute, a student with Rex Brandt, Dan Lutz, Ed Reep and Richard Haines, she attended the Pasadena School of Fine Arts and then ventured to Mexico to study at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende. Chuan loved to travel. She filled her sketchbooks with drawings from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Central and South America. Her work is represented in collections in France, Japan, Formosa, Germany, Switzerland, Guatemala and Thailand. Her museum exposure includes, the Pasadena Art Museum; Los Angeles County Art Museum; Long Beach Museum; Ojai Museum; Mishima, Japan; Taiwei, Formosa; and Ludwigshafen, Germany. She displayed work in more than eighteen private American Galleries. As an art instructor she taught at various times for the Sierra Madre Creative Arts Group, Pasadena Art Museum, Sequoyah School, Altadena Public Library and the Pasadena School of Fine Arts. She was a member of the Pasadena Society of Artists and the Pasadena Artist Associates.
