I paint in a realistic style and am captivated by whatever is in front of me at the moment. Color juxtupositions catch my eye and I try to capture whatever visual excitement that I am experiencing. I do still lifes because I have so much colorful junk around my house that looks great with fruit or flowers. I also am painting the landscapes around me in southern California, trying it in all different media.

I grew up in Texas and was always interested in art. I was able to start taking art classes from elementary school age and never stopped. I graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and I still love to take classes and workshops in various art disciplines. I moved to Southern California after graduation from college and eventually landed a job in the entertainment industry as a union “Scenic Artist”. There I learned to paint backdrops and scenery for motion pictures, and also for theatre and opera stages. I married another Scenic Artist and we have collaborated on many projects. We have complimentary styles and often ask for critiques from each other, but many times we offer it up unsolicited. It is very helpful to have someone to honestly offer opinions on a particular artwork in progress, resulting in a better final result. However, our best collaboration has been our two sons.
