Biographical Information:
When I was a student in high school in Chicago, my art teacher recommended me for an art class in the Chicago Art Institute. Several years later, a small watercolor was exhibited in a juried art show at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. Then followed university studies, marriage, children, a Master's degree in chemistry. A chance reading of Betty Edwards' "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" reawakened my interest in art. I attended art classes in Glendale Community College: drawing, watercolor, sculpture, printmaking and started exhibiting in student art shows, then, starting in the early 90s, I went on to join local and national art groups. I have participated in solo, two-person, three-person and group shows. 2004-2014, I have chaired the National Juried Exhibitions of Works on Paper show at the Brand Library and Art Center in Glendale.

Artist Statement:
I have no favorite technique in printmaking. What is important is the communication of feelings and ideas. The techniques for expressing these follow as a matter of course. I have created etchings, collagraphs, cardboard cuts, monoprints, etc. I have printed images over images to evoke the complexity of concepts, of currents and countercurrents in my way of thinking and of perceiving, I have printed series of works to show the multiplicity of aspects of a subject. In printmaking there is a wide variety of techniques, and everything is acceptable - there is no lack of means to express oneself.

In sculpture, by contrast, things are literally "cast in stone". Here the shape and the composition of the stone guides my hand, and if I allow this to happen, I find that a figure reflecting my thoughts and feelings emerges in the process.
