Pasadena Society of Artists mission is to create unifying support and promotional activities for its diverse membership of artists, to convey its members’ talent to the public, and to cultivate art appreciation and education in the community through exhibitions and cultural partnerships.

Founded in 1925, the Pasadena Society of Artists is one of the oldest organized professional groups working in this local. PSA is noted for a vigorous, active membership with a wide diversity of statement and high professional standards. PSA was founded at a time when Southern California was beginning to produce indigenous art, which has evolved into the varied and vital work being created today. We are proud to be a part of that artistic growth and are dedicated to keeping this tradition alive.

Pasadena Society of Artists current membership encompasses an exceptional array of artists working in a considerable variety of styles and media including: representational, abstract, traditional, contemporary, pen and ink, graphite, oil, acrylic, watercolor, sculpture, encaustic, photography, digital art, collage, assemblage, experimental, mixed media and more.

PSA has grown from 15 original members in 1925 to more than 140 members in 2009. Throughout this time PSA has continued to present exhibitions at local galleries and museums and has participated in several international exhibitions. Pasadena Society of Artists exhibition schedule includes several juried group shows per year and an Annual Exhibition. PSA is dedicated to maintaining the quality standards set forth by our Founders in exhibition and promotion of fine art.

PSA is a sponsor of the annual Pasadena Playhouse ARTWalk www.playhousedistrict.org/artwalk, and is partnering with AIDS Service Center www.aidsservicecenter.org in 2009 to help raise funds for ASC's humanitarian efforts.

Members are juried into the society. PSA hosts new membership screenings twice a year. A PSA jury reviews each applicant’s portfolio and resume of professional experience to determine eligibility for membership.
